The benefits of eating one fruit per day

Fruit is a nutrient-rich foods that nourish the body. In fact, a recent study revealed that eating a banana or apple per day alone was able to reduce the risk of death from heart attack and stroke.

Researchers from the University of Oxford, England, look at the diet of 500,000 adults in China. For seven years, the researchers found, only 100 grams of fruit per day, equivalent to one apple or banana can lose one-third the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Research published in the New England Journal of Medicine concluded, the more fruit you eat, the lower the risk of stroke and heart attack.

Fruits are a good source of potassium, fiber, antioxidants, and very few calories and sodium. Some fruits are also rich in antioxidants which can counteract free radical body.

Other studies showed that regular consumption of fruit can also lower blood pressure and prevent high blood sugar. However, the fruits are consumed fresh fruit instead of fruit to be treated, such as smoothies. If the fruits are processed or given extra sugar for example, the health benefits to be reduced.

"The key is to eat fresh fruit. When you process the fruit, it will lose a lot of content in it, such as fiber," said study author, prof Zhengming Chen of the University of Oxford.

This study did not focus on just one fruit or certain fruits. What is clear, according to the researchers, the consumption of 100 grams of fruit is equivalent to one apple or banana is able to reduce the risks of disease.

According to researchers, regular consumption of fruits makes you do not need to frequently see a doctor because of disease. Now, there is no longer any reason for you not to eat fruit every day.
