The difference between left brain & right brain

We often hear judging someone based on his brain function. People with the left brain more dominant is good at math, while the right brain excels in creativity.

Is the difference between right brain and left brain like that?

Our knowledge of brain function completely indebted to Roger Sperry (1913-1994). Sperry is a neuropsychologist who discovered that the human mind consists of two parts.

According to him, each part of the brain has a special function independently from one another.

The right hemisphere of the brain controls the muscles on the left side of the body, and vice versa, the left hemisphere of the brain controls the muscles on the right side of the body. When we blink right, it means the left brain working. Therefore, if there is damage to one side of the brain, would affect the functioning of the opposite body.

In general, the left brain dominant language; including the processing of what we hear and handle most tasks speak. The left brain is also in charge of logic and math. If we want to express a fact, the left brain will pull it from our memory.

Meanwhile, the right hemisphere of the brain responsible for spatial ability; including face recognition and processing of music. The right hemisphere is also put through some mathematical functions, but only a rough estimate and comparison. It also helps us understand the visual image and what we see.

In terms of language, this section helps us interpret the context and tone of someone speaking.

Simply put, that's the difference between the right brain and the left brain.
